AFFORDABLE HOUSING

The Greater Bridgeport Affordable Housing Compact was created in May 1989 to increase the amount of affordable housing available to residents in the region. Under the compact, affordable housing is defined as safe and affordable living space that costs residents no more than 30 percent of their median household income.

The compact says that during a five-year period following a year of planning member communities will contribute to the region's affordable housing goal, based on their population.

The GBRPA provides staff to implement and administer the compact.
