Draft FFY 2007 ~ 2011
TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (TIP/STIP)
For the
Greater Bri dgeport and Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization

Summary

In accordance with the provisions of Title 23, Section 135 of the United States Code, as amended by the Safe, Accountable, Flexible Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU), the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Greater Bridgeport and Valley Planning Regions has developed the draft FFY 2007 to FFY 2011 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). Concurrently, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) is compiling the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). By federal regulation, the MPO’s TIP must be consistent with the STIP. The combined TIP/STIP lists all transportation improvement projects expected to receive federal financial assistance and that are programmed for implementation between the federal fiscal years of 2007 through 2011, inclusive. Projects are listed by funding category, region and fiscal year. MPO TIP and the State TIP must be consistent.

A 30-day public review and comment period has been established beginning on June 23, 2006, and ending June 24, 2006. The GBRPA is making the draft TIP/STIP available to the public and will be holding two public information meetings. The public is encouraged to participate in this process and attend one of the meetings. To assist in the public review effort, copies of the draft TIP/STIP are available for review at offices of the chief elected official and clerk in each of the member municipalities of the Greater Bridgeport planning region – Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull. It is also available for review at the office of the GBRPA and it is available in electronic format from this website.

As part of the approval process, the air quality implications of the proposed program of projects must be assessed. The Connecticut Department of Transportation is responsible for conducting the quantitative emissions analysis of the draft TIP/STIP. Links to the results and findings of this assessment are provided below.
